Baby Come Pack
Traveling. Eating. And writing about it.
5 Epic Places to Visit in the Winter
Instead of escaping to a warm place for the winter, why not fully embrace the cold and head to the arctic? As someone who has been known to wear gloves well into May, I know it sounds unbelievable that I of all people are recommending this. But last February that's exactly what we did- I mean is there a better way to celebrate your 40th birthday than seeing the northern lights?
Best of Sardinia
It’s hard to do justice to a place like Sardinia in a blog post. The culture, the people, the food, and the landscape are so rich that even one visit can only scratch at the surface and leave you wanting more. We had the pleasure of spending a few days there at the end of July, on the tail end of our trip to Lake Garda and Corsica.
Corsica: Paradise in the Mediterranean
It all began when I read an article back in the winter about the “most beautiful beaches in France.” From Normandy to the Cote d’Azur, there was photo after photo of sublime seascapes and sandy coves that made you want to cry. But of all these enchanted places, the one that really stood out to me was Corsica. Because first of all, where was Corsica anyway? You never really hear much about it…so I was pretty intrigued.
Fall in Love with Lisbon
We finally made it to Lisbon, and I can’t believe we didn’t go sooner. We’ve always heard great things about Portugal, but we were still blown away by how wonderful it was. First of all, it’s postcard pretty just about everywhere you look. The tiled building facades and cobblestoned streets abound throughout the city and are not just confined to a small historic district as you see in other towns. Adding to its beauty of course are its coastal location and hilly streets (if you’ve been to San Francisco, Lisbon will likely remind you of it- it even has a Golden Gate-esque bridge). Then there’s the fabulous food, fun shopping and historic neighborhoods you can stroll for hours...what’s not to love?
The Cutest Things that Happened While Traveling
When most of us think about traveling, it's usually centered around culture, adventure, sightseeing and food. But what about the cute? Let's face it- this blog doesn't have enough baby animal pictures, so I'm going to take a break from writing about tacos and post some of the adorable things that we saw while traveling over the last couple of years.
Cairo's Tasty Street Food
Being in Cairo means being spoiled and fed by family. Our moms pour their love into stuffed grape leaves, decadent roasted pigeon and duck, and warm rice pudding. Eventually our jeans start to protest and so do we, announcing (to our mothers' dismay) that we will no longer be eating bread, pastries and meat. But here are a few of the things we're sneaking in behind their backs...
Budapest: Grand Architecture and More Strudel Than I Could Handle
Budapest was the first stop on our road trip through Central Europe, and what a way to kick things off. We flew in from Barcelona, picked up a rental car, and from there, we’d be making our way through Bosnia, Croatia, and Slovenia—our first time in this part of Europe, with no idea what to expect. And yet, within moments of arriving, we already knew: we were in for something special.
Why Paris is Not Overrated
If you're the type of traveler that likes to avoid the sight seeing circuit and go off the beaten path, you may be tempted to skip the Eiffel Tower. Don't! This wrought iron marvel of engineering was completed in 1889 for the World's Fair. Can you imagine how badass this structure would have been back then?
Everything We Ate in Napoli
We took a quick trip to Napoli this month and truly ate our hearts out. We wanted to go somewhere for our anniversary and we decided on Napoli because we were looking for somewhere we had never been to before and that we could fly to on the cheap from Barcelona. So we let the Skyscanner people decide our fate and started fantasizing about all the food we'd be eating. And let me tell you, they don't f*&% around in Napoli- the food was ridiculous.
Our Favorite Restaurants and Bars in Barcelona
I was going to call this post "Barcelona's Best Tapas Bars" but then I realized that it would be almost impossible to eat my way through all the different places throughout the city and crown a few as the best. Instead, this is a list of our personal favorites, places we've actually been to, not just a rehash of recommendations from a guide book. Let's get to it!
Tacos in Southern California
Tacos are not my favorite food...except when I'm in SoCal. I don't know why, but when I'm here I crave them all the time. Suddenly everyday is Taco Tuesday. Maybe it's all that sunshine- I mean, after all, tacos are meant to be eaten outside. Here are some of the ones we enjoyed the most, from from LA to Palm Springs...
Adventures from South Africa to Mozambique
So we drove from South Africa to Mozambique. We drove about 4000 crazy kms in 10 days. It was adventurous to say the least. These were the most memorable moments…
